Magnetic Reluctance: Ohm's Law for Magnets
Magnetic flux takes the easy path, and iron is a thousand times easier than air. Reluctance is the magnetic version of resistance, and a tiny air gap in an iron core can dominate the whole circuit. This video builds a magnetic circuit and shows the flux choosing its route.
It also shows why relays pull in with a snap, and how the air gap sets an inductor's behaviour.
In this video

- Why a small air gap dominates
- The magnetic circuit analogy
- Relays, solenoids and gapped inductors
